HOW TO BE SAVED – the Good news

Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved.

THE GOSPEL, (THE GOOD NEWS) is simple.  I am not wanting to complicate it, cropped-john-14-6.jpg just praying to be thorough for those who want to know more, to be informed of things they may not have ever heard or known.  In light of that, this may be redundant for some, (take it as a good thing, believers really should shod our feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace DAILY – Eph. 6:15).

Please note:  In this article I tried hard to link each and every bit of the Bible to make it easy for anyone to quickly find the truth.   I encourage you to read the Word and look up all the linked Bible verses.  Do not believe me, but seek God in His Word, see what He has to say.  The Scripture is able to make one ‘wise unto salvation’ (2 Tim 3:15).  I also provided links for other things which you will see throughout.

WHAT IS THE GOSPEL? (And what it is not!)

If you have heard the gospel before, I hope this is clear. The gospel (good news) is supposed to be simple enough a child can believe it. Unfortunately, it is not always so.

I am afraid many of you have heard a false or confusing ‘gospel’ in churches, or from friends, even and especially on social media like Facebook, youtube or street ‘preachers’.

People just cannot seem to help themselves in adding some of their works to what Christ has already done, all while denying that this is what they do.  It can be an unbeliever preaching another gospel, or it might even a believer who can also be susceptible to being deceived.  We can be deceived by kindly old gentlemen, lounging in their rocking chairs, capped with a full head of white wavy hair.  Casual, yet compelling, with their expensive knitted sweater and charming Southern accent.  It is a Norman Rockwell picture — surely this must be good?

It grieves us who know the gift of eternal life is free, to see many of the ‘street preachers’ with their condemning signs.  Or so many youtube videos (of people like Ray Comfort telling people to STOP SINNING – trust me he has not, or he is a liar –1 John 1:8-10).

They can also be heard on radio stations or writing hundreds of books (i.e. John MacArthur) or even wildly popular preachers on t.v. like Billy Graham (that I described above).  Don’t listen to them, they are not telling you the truth and nothing but the truth.

But I fear, lest somehow, as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, so your minds may be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.  For if he who comes preaches another Jesus whom we have not preached, or if you receive a different spirit which you have not received, or a different gospel which you have not accepted—you may well put up with it!  2 Cor 11:3-4

BUT God so loved the (whole) world, that He sent His Son Jesus that whosoever (ANYONE) would believe upon Him would not die (perish) but have eternal life. He says He desires no one should perish/die, (John 3:16-18; 2 Pet 3:9) but we all have a decision — to believe or not believe His testimony of His Son Jesus.

The Lord Jesus Christ (fully man, and fully God) died at Calvary on the cross for all of our sin. He freely gave Himself as a perfect sacrifice in our place.  Jesus took His life back up when He rose again from the dead — proving He is God in the flesh (since only God has the power to bring someone back to life) (John 10:17-18).  He had the victory over sin, death and the grave eternally.  For those of us who believe, we too will have eternal life with God (1 Cor 15:3-4), this is His promise.  God’s testimony of His Son tells us that once we have believed we can KNOW we possess eternal life (1 John 5:13).  The gift of God is eternal life, and it cannot be lost.  When we believe, we are gifted to the Son (John 6:39-40; Col 1:13).  He says no one can snatch us out of His hand (John 10:28-30). Please read this resource from Pastor Tom Cucuzza on how to be sure you are going to heaven.

There is nothing you can do to receive this free gift.  Again you cannot ‘turn from sin’ (or stop sinning – it is not possible and could never be enough). Promising to do better or obey cannot help, nor committing or surrendering your life to Him.  He gave His life for you, not the other way around.

I am here to tell you, death comes too fast sometimes.

Especially when you lose someone you love.  And they were too young to die.  And you didn’t have enough time with them.  You didn’t get to grow old together, and you didn’t become grandparents together, and you didn’t get to tell them “I love you” enough…And they never got to see your kids get married…or walk his girls down the aisle.  Life ends swiftly sometimes.

Don’t wait…

So many things the apostles NEVER told the lost they needed to do in order to receive the free gift of eternal life we see being yelled out on the streets, or held up on their signs.

No work of yours can be added to BELIEVING upon who He says He is, and what He has done for you.

Some of these things might very well be good things to do once you are a believer, however it is not by any works of righteousness that we have been saved (Titus 3:4-7; Eph 2:8-9; Rom 4:4-6; Rom 11:6), but only by His grace.

Saying a prayer when you believe is a good thing to do, because you are now learning to talk to your Father, but the prayer itself doesn’t save.   Believing upon Him does.  The Lord Jesus Christ died for you, demonstrating His love for you because you were an ungodly sinner WITHOUT STRENGTH to be able to clean yourselves up first.

For when we were still without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.  For scarcely for a righteous man will one die; yet perhaps for a good man someone would even dare to die.  But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.  Romans 5:6-8

We are all sinners, (Rom 3:23) and that sin cost us eternal separation from God – which means eternal death.  He does not want that for one person (1 Tim 2:1-6; 2 Pet 3:9). Every person has sinned, everyone needs a Savior no matter how good you may feel you are, it’s just not and never could be good enough.  We’ve all known some really ‘good’ people in our lives, but they still fall short of God’s glory.

Our sin grieves God.  (Genesis 6:6; Eph 4:29-31)

We do not need priests or Mary to offer sacrifices for us, it will not help.

Jesus was offered ONCE to put away sin by the sacrifice of Himself (Heb 9:26).  We (all who believe upon Him) were perfected forever by His sacrifice, once for all (Heb 10:10,14).

Jesus tore the veil that day having entered into the Holiest of Holies by His blood sacrifice — once for all.  We can approach God ourselves boldly, He is all believers High Priest — we do not need another to intercede for us. Revelation 1:6 says that Jesus loved us and washed us from our sins in His own blood (all believers) and He perfected us forever.

Before sin entered this world, man was in fellowship with God, with no separation between us.   But he was given a choice (free will).  That choice was a decision between obeying God and choosing to disobey.  Only one thing man was asked not to do, all the rest was under his dominion.  And he chose to sin, to rebel against His Creator, and there it began.  Since then, sin has separated ALL of us from God.  Each and every person.

But from that very first sin, God promised that He would make a way if man would choose to believe upon Him for it (Gen 3:15).  God is not a man that He should lie (Num 23:19; 1 Sam 15:29).

Jesus is the only way to become born again (He created a new second nature in us when we believe).  It is incorruptible (1 Pet 1:23). He came to reconcile us to God, through faith in Him, our sins are no longer imputed to us (2 Cor 5:17-19).  Nothing we can do in the flesh will avail us anything for eternal life (Gal 6:14-15).

Jesus came as fully God and fully man. He is not the half brother of Satan. He is not the archangel.  He did not become God by not sinning, He already was and is God.  He is not just a prophet or a good man.   Neither is He on equal par with Mary — He is her God and her Savior.

Jesus is either who He said He was, (the Son of God who always was, the Creator of all things) or He would have been a fake, there is no in between.

Jesus told the Pharisees who He was,  (Please read the Seven ‘I Am’ statements here so you can know who Jesus claimed to be).

Unless you believe what He said — Which is WHO He is and what He came and did do — you will die in your sins — unforgiven.  Don’t believe on ‘another Jesus’ that religions like Mormonism, Jehovah’s witness, or even Islam or Judaism currently teaches about Jesus (that He is only a prophet, or only a good man, half brother of Satan, or not the Jewish Messiah etc.)  Do not believe another gospel of salvation, which is ‘another/accursed gospel’ (2 Cor 11:3-4; Gal 1:6-9).   Salvation is free, so if you believe like the Hindu’s, Roman Catholics, Buddhists, lordship teachers etc., in good works being necessary to be saved (or again another Savior), you will be lost because of your beliefs — they are placed on the wrong Savior.   (Please read the book of John.  It was written for the explicit purpose that people would believe on Jesus and in so doing have eternal life – John 20:31).

He came to save us from this fatethis is the good news.

All good and perfect gifts come from God (James 1:17).  God is love, He is merciful to all who will come to Him in belief.  Jesus is the Son of God. Attested to by God the Father and by His miracles — mocked by Satan, questioned by the High Priest, positively affirmed by Jesus.  People who like to misuse the Scripture in James 2, (regarding even the demons believe and tremble), seem to miss that demons were not and will never be offered Salvation.  But all demons and unclean spirits were compelled to cry out that Jesus Christ was the Son of God knowing Who He is.

Who else witnessed that Jesus was the Son of God?  Mark through the Holy Spirit, the Angel Gabriel, the Centurion, John the Baptist, Nathaniel, Jesus Himself, Martha, John the Apostle, the Ethiopian Eunuch, Paul the apostle etc. all testified that Jesus Christ was and is the Son of God (Mark 1:1, 15:39; Luke 1:35; 2:11; Jn 1:34,1:49, 10:36 11:27; 20:31; Acts 8:37, Acts 9:20).

There is not really enough room here to describe Emmanuel, (meaning God With us) that the angel announced. He is Creator of all things, our God whose throne is forever and ever.  He is the great I Am.  He is the Creator of all things, He is before all things, and by Him all things exist.  He is the Almighty God, the Beginning and the End, He is the Word of God, the Messenger of the Covenant, the Son of David, the Prophet, mighty in deeds and words, and so much more.

This Wonderful loving God, the only living God, (all other gods and ways are false, and religion will not save you).

God knows you intimately — even your thoughts — and think about this, (if you are honest), He still loves you in spite of it.   He counts every hair on your head, keeps every tear you have shed, numbers every place you have been, KNOWS every sin you have ever committed whether in public or in secret.  AND it was all paid for at the cross by the death and resurrection of Jesus.

Jesus is God and Savior — only God can save you from this terrible reality called hell.

I, even I, am the Lord, And besides Me there is no Savior.  Isaiah 43:11 (see also Is. 45:15, 21; 49:26; 60:16).

Then the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people.  For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.  Luke 2:10-11

Jesus is the ‘righteousness of God’.  Are you still seeking to establish your own righteousness?

The penalty (wages or payment) for sin is death (Rom 3:23) — again, this is eternal separation from God — forever.  Never again experiencing every good thing we have ever known.

God is perfect and Holy, and because of that, nothing imperfect can enter heaven, not even so much as one little lie (Rev 21:27).  So by not believing on who Jesus is and what He has done in our place (died on the cross for our sins, buried and risen again in three days),  If we do not believe — we have rejected His free gift of eternal life.

If we die in this thinking (of unbelief), we will be forever separated from God in this state for all eternity in hell.   Repent* (which means ‘think differently’ basically), for if you don’t, you will surely perish.

The transliterated word REPENT does NOT = Repent > FROM SIN.

Those are ADDED words in some paraphrased translations that are not there in the original language.  Stopping even 90% of our sins would never be enough.

In the 13th chapter of Luke, Jesus was telling His disciples by the examples He used, that no one was a worse sinner than they (I once thought just like this too).  Those who had done heinous things were no worse sinners than they were.  He told them to ‘repent’ or they would die.

What does that mean? Repent from what?  It meant they needed to stop thinking they were good and others were worse sinners. In other words, stop thinking you’re so great, and others are worse than you.

Once again God’s testimony is that we have ALL sinned, and we ALL fall short of His glory.

God says we can only receive Him through believing upon who Jesus is (God the Messiah/Prophesied Christ), and what He has done for us (died on the cross for OUR sins, buried and rose again from the dead having the victory over sin and death forever).

The Word of God says that all life is in the blood, but surely we already know this.  So He needed to die, because without the shedding of blood, there is no forgiveness for sin (Heb 9:22; Lev 17:11).   You need a Savior, we all need a Savior — not one person ever will escape that fact no matter how good.  Only God could save us from this awful fate because He alone is perfect, and all powerful.  Jesus as God had the victory over sin and death for us, and He promises we too will rise again from the dead if we believe upon Him as our Savior (1 Cor 15:50-57).

You can try to do it your way (like Frank Sinatra), or you can believe Him, that He is the ONLY WAY.   He became our substitute, a perfect, spotless (sinless sacrifice). He died in our place with great love for us, giving Himself willingly.  It is by His shedding of blood and His death in our place that we can be reconciled to God the Father.  Jesus is Lord (God the Messiah).  He is either your Savior by believing upon Him, or you will die eternally in torment if you reject Him.

He is Lord of all, and one day everyone will bow and declare He is Lord whether or not they chose to believe upon Him in this lifetime, in this, you will have no choice.  Your choice NOW is your destination – Heaven or Hell, and no one will have a second chance after they die — it is appointed unto man once to die, then the judgment (Heb. 9:27).

Imagine a place where there is no more joy, no more peace, no more love, no more light, no more beauty — nothing good, only an absence of everything that was ever beautiful and wonderful in our life — unending weeping and sorrow.  I can’t begin to describe or think on the opposite of everything that is good and pure.  There will be no escape, no second chances, and for those who have thought of ending it all in this lifetime? There is no suicide in hell.

So good deeds, living a good life — none of that would have ever been enough to mend the break between man and God.  After we have believed, it is good for us to maintain good works, good for all men in fact, including us, so we will not be barren or unfruitful (Titus 3:8; 2 Pet 1:5-8).

He forgave all our trespasses (SINS) and HE nailed every single thing that was against US to HIS CROSS  (Col 2:13-15).  Not our cross, but His (for those who talk about taking up their cross in relationship to gaining eternal life).

Dear Jewish friend, please read Isaiah 53 in light of the historical and Biblical accounts as Jesus Christ as the Messiah.  Won’t you believe Isaiah’s report about the Messias/Messiah who has come?  He is the Afikoman.  He has come.  (Why is that Greek Word in your Jewish Passover?)  He is coming again.  When did you pierce God?  Jesus did it for you.

And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn.  Zech 12:10

God sent you His only Son.   The Bible says, He came unto His own, and His own received Him not.  Psalm 2:12 says in the KJB, Kiss the son, lest he be angry, and you perish along the way, when suddenly his anger blazes.  How blessed are all who take refuge in him.(His Son)

Because He doesn’t want anyone to perish but desires that all would come to a knowledge of the truth.  Wanting all to spend eternity with Him, but that can only happen through belief in the gospel (good news).

Only Jesus Christ is righteous, so we can only enter Heaven (to the Father) through belief upon Him.  And that is only if we believe solely on Him to save us — we need to understand that it can be nothing of ourselves — our goodness, or our religion, but only believing upon Him.

Obviously He knew we could not ‘stop sinning’ or ‘promise to do better’ and actually keep those promises.  Apart from Him, we can do nothing.  While we were still ungodly sinners without strength, Christ died for us (Rom 5:6-8).

A particular religion or belief system cannot save (unless it is the one way He prescribed (John 14:6).  Once again, no promises, no behavior of our own, no religion, church going, no turning from evil — can grant us eternal life. Once again, Jesus is the only way for you to be saved and forgiven all your sins.  There is no other way but Him.  Not MANY paths to God, only ONE WAY.  I didn’t say it, Jesus did.  Look into it please…

Once again, believe only upon Him for your salvation.   It is that simple. You now should know who Jesus is, and what He did for you, but if not, please ask me to contact you by commenting.  Believe upon Him and you will instantly and everlastingly be given the free gift of eternal life (which can never be lost or forfeited, and it starts at the moment you believe (1 John 5:9-13; John 3:14-18, 36; John 5:24; John 6:28-29, 39-40, 47; Rom 6:23). You’ve been pardoned, set free!  Never to perish.   You’ve been sealed with the Holy Spirit until the day of redemption (Eph 1:13; 4:30).

For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures.  1 Cor. 15:3-4

What does the above Scripture affirm?  That HE did it ALL.  Stop making promises of good behavior or stopping a certain sin to think it might grant you or help you receive eternal life.

Jesus was the One prophesied of and who fulfilled all the prophecies perfectly (according to the Scriptures). He was the Prophet that Moses warned the people of Israel that they must listen to, or God would require it of them (Deut 18:18-19).   That people who die are buried — ashes to ashes, dust to dust — but only God can raise someone from the dead.

Jesus is God. Only God is Savior.  Jesus is God, the Son of God who came in the flesh, to redeem you, to reconcile you to the Father by taking away all of your sins.  He is the Lamb of God that takes away our sin (John 1:29).  That all these things were witnessed by many people (1 Cor 15:6-8), proves also that these things that are written are true for all of us. You cannot earn this by anything you can do, but you can believe it and receive the gift of eternal life freely.

You do not have to read further, you are saved eternally if you have believed upon Him as your Savior — Christ the Lord crucified for your sins and risen again from the dead as you too shall be.  But read on if you would like <3

Do you know where will you go when you die?

(Things that will keep you from heaven)

The soul that sinneth, it shall die. The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son: the righteousness of the righteous shall be upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him.  Ezekiel 18:20

Jesus bore our iniquity, He was the only one who could:

Surely he hath borne our griefs,
and carried our sorrows:
yet we did esteem him stricken,
smitten of God, and afflicted.
But he was wounded for our transgressions,
he was bruised for our iniquities:
the chastisement of our peace was upon him;
and with his stripes we are healed.
All we like sheep have gone astray;
we have turned every one to his own way;
and the Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.

Isaiah 53:4-6

If you have not yet accepted this — it is obvious, we have ALL sinned.  Little or big is not the issue (contrary to what religions will tell you).  ALL sin, any one sin will keep you from heaven, ALL will cause you eternal death and separation from God.  Are you proud?  He hates that. It’s no joke, not any place you would want to be with no hope ever again.  But if you are alive and reading this, you have hope.  Everyone does.

Once we have died, we face the judgment (Heb 9:27) For those believe in reincarnation? Or those who believe in Purgatory?  A second chance?  I am very sorry, there will be no more chances

STILL THINK YOU ARE GOOD ENOUGH TO GO TO HEAVEN?  DO YOU KNOW SO? OR JUST HOPE SO? (I suggest you ask your husband or wife if they think you are) 🙂

Here’s a check list, you can see if you are good enough in God’s eyes:

  • Has a corrupt/curse word proceeded out of your mouth?
  • Have you hated anyone ever?
  • Have you ever told a lie?
  • Chosen not to forgive someone who wronged you?
  • Ever taken something that wasn’t yours?
  • Have you ever gossiped about another?
  • Have you ever had sex with a person you were not married to?
  • Ever had an evil thought? Ever been bitter?
  • Taken the name of the Lord in vain?  Said “Oh my G-d”?
  • Wished that you had your neighbor’s car or house, or even wife?
  • Broken your word?
  • Been proud (One of the things He hates…Proverbs 6:16-19)

I could go on, but you probably get the picture.  We’ve ALL done some or even many of these things (if we are honest).  And actually His Word says, if you do JUST ONE of these things, it is the same as committing them all.    Just one lie to a Holy God is something He cannot abide.  Our ways and thoughts are not like His (Is 55;8-9) — we don’t quite understand that.  We like to compare ourselves to others, and think we are better, but God is a righteous judge, it doesn’t work that way.

Do you think this is the list God will rate us by?

  • Go to church?
  • Serve there?
  • Give money?
  • Do good deeds and nice things for others?
  • Baptized in the church?
  • Confirmed?
  • Turned from sins?
  • Gave up bad habits?
  • Prove you are saved by your works?
  • Go to Mass daily?
  • Go door to door to tell people about God?

Here is God’s Word on my “good” deeds, and all my efforts…

But we are all like an unclean thing, And all our righteousnesses are like filthy rags; We all fade as a leaf, And our iniquities, like the wind, Have taken us away.  Isaiah 64:6

There is not one person on earth that has done several, if not all of these things at some time in their life.  This is sin and no matter how “little” you think you may have sinned, it grieves a Holy and Just God and keeps us from Him, for all eternity, UNLESS YOU BELIEVE UPON JESUS CHRIST.

Most people answer that they think they are a good person when you ask them why they should be allowed into heaven.

Some, (like one Catholic friend I was speaking with), told me that they will beg for God’s mercy for themselves at that point, or that others will pray for them.

Sigh…Oh dear friend, that is not what His Word says, please, please, look further into it, don’t think of men above what is written (1 Cor 4:6).  He has given us this Scripture well before the Catholic church voted on their canon (Rom 15:4). The early churches themselves agreed on canon of the NT, and the OT had already been decided on by the Jews, to whom which the oracles of God were given. Jesus mentioned the law, the Psalms and the prophets; which was the three part division of Scriptures along with the blood of Abel to the blood of Zechariah (witnessing to the truth of the Hebrew Scriptures).  Jewish canon was agreed upon and closed around 425 B.C.  When the Septuagint came to be, the ‘books that do not defile the hands’ (not considered Scripture – i.e. the Apocrypha) were added to the Hebrew canon which had been translated into Greek.    Josephus the Jewish historian did not include the additional books into the Hebrew Canon, nor did the early translator of the Latin Vulgate (Jerome).   If you have been led to believe that these books were inspired, please prayerfully do your own research and ask why they so heavily conflict with those the ‘Protestant’ Bible (I am not a Protestant, but a Christian as they were first called at Antioch).

Other Catholic friends believe it’s their many good works that they will justify themselves by, or how faithful a Catholic they have been.  Most always the answer is because they are a good person.  You may indeed be a very good person, I know many very good and decent Catholics (and other religions) whom I love dearly and myself think they are wonderful — but being good or being a good Catholic will not save you my beloved friend.  Only He can.

The Bible says by works no one will be justified before God.

So by then it is too late !!! We die, and then the judgment– no more chances.

There is none righteousno, not oneThere is none who understands; There is none who seeks after God. They have all turned aside; They have together become unprofitable; There is none who does goodno, not one.”  Rom 3:10-12

I used to think I was a good person, because I was nice to people, kind, patient, caring, didn’t do the same things as others.  I did lots of good works towards others and was happy to do so, I freely gave, protected the weak, took care of the poor and elderly.  I didn’t curse, thought I loved others, (we all have our owns methods of measuring other people against what we believe to be our own goodness to be).  But all of these things do not meet HIS HolyPerfectRighteous standards. Once again, if you have broken JUST one, you are guilty of all of them in God’s sight — Even a lie — just one time I have had people say, ‘what about Hitler’?  What about the penalty of one sin being eternal death?  Will you still die with one sin?  One lie?

But there shall by no means enter it anything that defiles, or causes an abomination or a lie, but only those who are written in the Lamb’s Book of Life. Rev 21:27

GUILTY: We may do many, many good things.  The Bible says we know how to give our children good gifts, even being a wicked person.  But God is Holy, and His standard is perfection, and there is only ONE way we could spend eternity with Him. The Bible reassures us we cannot be good enough on our own.  We need Jesus as our righteousness, nothing else will do.  Again, Jesus told those who thought everyone else was worse sinners then they and had deserved their fate, ‘repent’ (change your thinking) or you will die (perish).

Many of us think we are good, and some think they are far better than others because of their good works.   Some may even do quite a bit of good works and it’s quite impressive.

But the Bible calls it “dead works” (Heb 6:1, 9:14; Is 64:6), which can avail us nothing in receiving eternal life.  Only by His death can we be redeemed, and only the blood of Christ can cleanse our conscience and forgive us for all our trespasses (Col 2:13-15).  Only Christ can reconcile us to the Father.  Again, He is the ONE AND ONLY Mediator between God and man (I Tim 2:5, Heb 8:6, 9:15, 12:24).

“Two men went up to the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector.  The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, ‘God, I thank You that I am not like other men—extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this tax collector. I fast twice a week; I give tithes of all that I possess.’

And the tax collector, standing afar off, would not so much as raise his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying, ‘God, be merciful to me a sinner!’  I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other; for everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.”  Luke 18:9-14

What is the difference between these two examples?

The religious man thinks he is good in comparison to other men and recounts HIS good works to God.  (Not one mention of Christ’s work on the cross being finished, His resurrection triumphing over sin and death.  Your good works are still not good enough for God’s righteous standards.) Worse, maybe others think or tell you that you are such a good person.  They will not be able to stand before God in your place.

No priest, no pastor, no friend, no husband, no mother, no father can help you at that moment — You will stand alone at the Great White Throne before God to answer why you rejected the Only offer of His Son, the Only sacrifice which was acceptable to Him. By then, it will be too late.   I have heard some declare they will shake their fist at God. You think you can stand before Him?  No, you will fall to your knees and declare who He is, but it will be too late, and you are guilty and will be sent to eternal torment and punishment sadly for having rejected His beloved Son Jesus Christ.

The other man, humble, recognizes he is a sinner in need of God’s mercy, in need of a Savior…he does not try to justify himself by his works as did the religious Pharisee.

So what must you do to be saved? (Acts 16:30-31)  Believe upon Christ and His death on the cross in your place for your sin.  His burial and resurrection in your place, which proves He is God, Scripture and prophecy about Jesus is fulfilled, and you too will rise again to eternal life with Him if you believe upon Him.  That is ALL you must do.

Believe on Him.

There is nothing you can add and if you try, it is a different gospel.

What sin is going keep you from Heaven?

And when He has come, He will convict the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: of sin, because they do not believe in Me.  John 16:8-9

He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.  John 3:18

He who believes in the Son has everlasting life; and he who does not believe the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him.  John 3:36

I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins. John 8:24

Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.

And ye have not his word abiding in you: for whom he hath sent, him ye believe not.  Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.   And ye will not come to me, (not to a church or religion, but to JESUS) that ye might have life.  John 5:24,38-40

HOW SAD… They had the scriptures right in front of them which testified of Him (so do we, all America has access freely to Bibles and we ignore it or mock it, or declare it to contradict itself with our own fleshly wisdom).  But these Pharisees had added their own traditions and men’s words, and religious practices to the simple requirement of faith on what God has said.  The just have always lived by faith.  Right in front of them they had the Messiah, the Savior that the Scriptures testified of, and yet they would not come to Him.  He told them they needed to believe, but they did not.

Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God?

Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on Him (Jesus) whom he hath sent. John 6:28-29

Christ died for EVERY SINGLE PERSON’S SIN.  To pay the penalty.   We come to Him through faith in what He did for us, by dying in our place. Through His death and resurrection, He proved He is God, and showed us, that He can save us too.  He has victory over sin’s penalty and over death. We too will be resurrected when we die, the corruptible will be changed to the incorruptible.

IF YOU HAVE NOT BELIEVED, (this includes trusting your goodness, religion or churches to be even part of the reason you will be saved), you will have no excuse.

For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, because what may be known of God is manifest in them, for God has shown it to them.  For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse, because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened.  Professing to be wise, they became fools.  Romans 1:18-22

“He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.  For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed.  But he who does the truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be clearly seen, that they have been done in God.”  John 3:18-21

This passage speaks of JESUS.  He is God, who made all things, in whom is light and life.

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God.  All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.  In him was life; and the life was the light of men.  And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.

There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe.  He (John) was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light.  That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.  He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.  He came unto his own, and his own received him not.  But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name.  John 1:1-12

For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.     Isaiah 9:6

Before we come to Christ, we are like the zombies of the movies we just don’t know it.

We are the walking dead…

We THINK we have life in us, but do you know that it is the breath of God that holds men together, the Spirit of God who made us and gives us life.  And it is Jesus who is the TRUE LIGHT that gives light to every single man ever born into this world! (John 1:9).

Without Him, man would fall to DUST AND there would be NOTHING at all redeeming in you….No light!  Some shake their fist and declare in their wisdom, that there is no God, but the Bible says, they are a fool.

The Spirit of God has made me, And the breath of the Almighty gives me life.  Job 33:4

All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made.  In Him was life, and the life was the light of men.   John 1:3-4

For He knows our frame; He remembers that we are dust. Psalm 103:14

Will you receive the FREE GIFT of God?

You can have eternal life with Him by believing upon Jesus, and what Jesus did for you.

Jesus is the Son of God, come as man, to be the solution for our death.  Man sinned, so man must die.  Jesus died in our place so that we would have the forgiveness of sins, eternal life… Nothing you can do, no works, but you can trust in Him!

We are all sinners, and we all need a Savior.  You must receive Him as your Savior (John 1:12)

The Publican recognized he was a sinner in need of mercy.
The Religious man did not, he saw only that he was good.

Who was justified in God’s sight?

This was before Christ died on the cross, now, He has done the work, He has paid the price for you, such great love. You need to see that you need Him through a change of mind (which means repent)–a change of what you previously thought to believing on Him as your Savior!  ALL men need Him. Not many men or women will believe so.  They would rather trust in religion, riches, their own works, their own goodness to save them.

Mary, the mother of Jesus, also recognized she was a sinner in need of a Savior. She magnified Him, not herself.

And Mary said, My soul doth magnify the Lord, And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour.  Luke 1:46-47

That Christ died for OUR sins on the cross. (This was prophesied in the scriptures, and crucifixion wasn’t even a type of execution at the time of the prophesy — click here to see).

Yet it pleased the Lord to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the Lord shall prosper in his hand.     Isaiah 53:10

After He was crucified for our sins, He was buried (as the scriptures testified – Isaiah 53:9, Matt 12:40).

And Christ rose again from the dead the third day (according to the scriptures, and the fact He also said He would).  This proved He was God.  Jesus said, He laid down His life and had the power to take it up again. (Jn. 10:17-18)  We too will live again with Him, if we are His by receiving Him (John 1:12).  HE HAD THE VICTORY OVER DEATH.

His resurrection was witnessed by many (See I Corinthians 15:3-11).

THIS was the gospel declared in Scripture, that they believed, received, were saved by, and stood in.

The same gospel ALL the apostles preached.

Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?”  She said to Him, “Yes, Lord, I believe that You are the Christ, the Son of God, who is to come into the world.” John 11:25-27

Come to Him by believing.  Nothing else.

No repenting of your sins (also one of the commandments of the law) is not found in the New Testament regarding salvation, nor in the Old Testament regarding eternal life.  You can start to deal with sin once you are saved with His help, but NOT as a requirement for being saved.

REPENT = Change of mind

No confessing of your sin (which is one of the commandments of the law), can be added to the Gospel for salvation.  This is a good thing for believers to agree with God when they are doing something wrong — keep short accounts with Him as you would any loved one.

CONFESSING SIN IS WORK OF THE LAW:   And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying, Speak unto the children of Israel, When a man or woman shall commit any sin that men commit, to do a trespass against the Lord, and that person be guilty; then they shall confess their sin which they have done: and he shall recompense his trespass with the principal thereof, and add unto it the fifth part thereof, and give it unto him against whom he hath trespassed.  Numb 5:5-7

Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.   Gal 2:16

No remorse, sorrow, promises of doing better can be contributed to the gospel itself, you must believe who He is, and what He has done for you.

Forget dead works, religion, being good enough, being sorry enough, even thinking you can turn from sin or stop sinning, repenting of sin, confessing your sin, there is no Scripture that tells us this is the gospel.  In fact, Jonah 3:10 states turning from sin is a work.  Numbers 5:7 shows that ‘confessing your sin’ is a work of the Mosaic law.

Repent means to change your mind.  Will changing your mind save you?  Only if the change of mind results in you believing on Jesus Christ as your Savior. Many will repent (change their mind) regarding many things, but will never be saved. Every single person who has really believed in their heart on Jesus for their salvation, they have all repented.  God has repented too, and does not need salvation, others have repented that did not receive salvation…

36 amazing things that happen immediately when you believe!

What will YOU tell God about not believing on His beloved Son?

The Father loves the Son, and has given all things into His hand.

He who believes in the Son has everlasting life; and he who does not believe the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him.”  John 3:35-36

We must be restored with God, to be able have a relationship with Him.

There is only ONE WAY to God. (John 14:6, John 10:9, Heb 10:20, Matt 7:13-14)

Open to me the gates of righteousness: I will go into them, and I will praise the Lord: This gate of the Lord, into which the righteous shall enter.  I will praise thee: for thou hast heard me, and art become my salvation.   The stone which the builders refused is become the head stone of the corner.  This is the Lord’s doing; it is marvellous in our eyes.  Ps 118:19-23

There are NOT, and I repeat, NOT many paths to God according to the Word of God.

Jesus came and gave His life in place of ours, that we might have abundant life.

The enemy, the devil, plans to keep us blinded from this truth.

Jesus saith unto him, “I am THE WAYTHE TRUTH, and THE LIFE

NO MAN cometh unto the Father, BUT BY ME“.  John 14:6

He loves you.  He gave His life for you willingly.

Come to Him that you might have life.

I AM THE DOOR. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture. The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.  John 10:9-10

Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends.  John 15:13

“Therefore My Father loves Me, because I lay down My life that I may take it again. (Resurrection)  No one takes it from Me, but I lay it down of Myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again.   John 10:17-18

Sirs, what must I do to be saved?

And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.  Acts 16:30-31

There is a difference between believing ON and believing in Jesus.  Lots of churches claim to believe in Jesus.  But it is maybe in who He is, or what He was historically, they have not placed their faith on Him alone.  Demons believe in Jesus because Jesus is real.  They do not and cannot believe ON Him as their Savior.

21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.

22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?

23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

Matt 7:21-23

Do you call Him Lord? Plenty of Lordship teachers, pastors and church goers say they submit to His Lordship.  Have they?  Have they done His work, or followed His will?  Or do they believe they are saved by their wonderful works they proclaim?

What is the will of the Father?  Everlasting life that you cannot lose IF you have believed on HIM! (Not any works of your own).

This is the will of the Father who sent Me, that of all He has given Me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up at the last day.  And this is the will of Him who sent Me, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him may have everlasting life; and I will raise him up at the last day.”  John 6:39-40

Do you justify yourselves by your own works?  What is His work?

For if Abraham was justified by works, he has something to boast about, but not before God. But to him who does not work but believes on Him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is accounted for righteousness.  Rom 4:2, 5

Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law but by faith in Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Christ Jesus, that we might be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the law; for by the works of the law no flesh shall be justified.  Gal 2:16

What is the work He told us we had to do?

Then they said to Him, “What shall we do, that we may work the works of God?”  Jesus answered and said to them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He sent.”

Does He know you?

Did He EVER know you?

I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine.  John 10:14

What makes some lawless, or unrighteous?  What makes one righteous?

For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.   For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.  Romans 1:16-17

For they being ignorant of God’s righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God.  For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.  Romans 10:3-4

For as by one man’s disobedience (Adam) many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one (Jesus) shall many be made righteous.  Romans 5:19
